Do You Frequently Revise Your Social Media Profiles?

As often as I check on my main social media profiles, I am always surprised that there’s something that needs to be tweaked, something that has changed, something that could be optimized.

Am I really missing that much each time I revisit the profile? Or is it, as I learn more and more about utilizing social media, that I now know more effective things that I can do for the profile?

I certainly hope it’s the second reason and not the first, especially as there is so much to learn.

Take LinkedIn. I appreciated learning some months back that instead of, for example, “My website” and the link in my profile, I could put “Miller Mosaic Power Marketing” and the link.

Now I’ve just learned that it is better to use words that people search on. Obviously few people are going to search on “Miller Mosaic Power Marketing.” So I’ve switched my three LinkedIn profile links to words that people may actually search for.

Plus, none of my three links goes to my site’s home page. Instead each link goes to a website page with specific information connected to the searchable words I used in the description for that link.

I’ve also been checking my website pages to make sure that each page has at least one h3 headline on it thanks to a reminder in a post by Darren Rowse of Problogger.net.

And I am working very hard on writing more effective blog post headlines — see my post “How to Write Keyword-Rich Blog Post Headlines to Attract Readers and Search Engines”

The challenge of effectively using social media is to never stand still — to always move forward learning new things as well as acting on the new things and sharing these with others.
