There is a lot of debate over complexity and time management in Social Media, especially as users adopt multiple platforms. It’s natural, like playing multiple instruments or multiple sports.

So, which of the big 3, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter is the most COMPLEX for the average daily user and WHY?

Frankly, we find the combination of LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter is where the biggest complexity lies, especially with messaging, but that just something to kick it off with.

Personally speaking, I think twitter is the most simple, yet the most complex as well. Think about it- it’s simple because 140 character updates are short & sweet, but it’s complex because there are so many conversations happening; it’s like a full-time job keeping up with all the conversations. To be successful on twitter, you have to constantly search for relevant conversations & interesting people, reach out to them, wait for a reply, and reply back immediately or they might forget about you.

Facebook & LinkedIn offer more time to reply and connect. There is not as much of an urgent rush like how there is on twitter.

This is an excellent way to put it. I agree with the real time nature of Twitter. Facebook is a little bit that way. LinkedIn is NOT.
