At this time of year The Public Broadcasting Service, PBS, always has special programming they are running and it is usually based on Rock & Roll. This holiday season is no different.
The channel, usually a single digit channel in most markets, is airing a show entitled “Ed Sullivan’s Rock & Roll Classics” and it is truly amazing. It covers the appearances of all the great rock and folk bands of the era:
- The Doors with Jim Morrison
- The Beatles
- The Rolling Stones
- The Rascals
- The Turtles
- Sly and the family Stone
- The Association
- Mama’s and the Papa’s
- and hundreds more.
This is a fundraiser for PBS where you make a donation and receive the CD or DVD sets based on the amount you donate. While I was watching on lat night TV I was tweeting as one amazing act after another came on.
Within minutes the replies to my tweets were coming from fellow rock enthusiasts. Some were watching and some were reminiscing. This bond between people, rock and social media as oh so vert apparent.
That is the entire premise of the Rock The World movement and this book. Please join us as we help you “get a little more music in your life” and meet other great people that have an appreciation for classic rock just like you.
So, what are your favorite bands and songs of the era?
